FAQs

Long Heating & Air

  • How should I prepare for my furnace maintenance service?

To prepare for your furnace maintenance service, Long Heating & Air advises clearing the space surrounding your furnace, replacing the air filter, and ensuring that all vents are unobstructed. Prior to the technician's arrival, we recommend vacuuming any carpeted areas near the unit. Additionally, when booking, let us know the year and brand of the unit if possible. The tech can gather any other information needed about your unit at the appointment.
  • What services do you provide?

We offer installation, repair, and maintenance for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including furnaces, ductless mini-splits, heat pumps, air conditioners, water heaters, and indoor air quality solutions.
  • How often should I service my HVAC system?

We recommend annual maintenance—once before the heating season and once before the cooling season—to ensure efficiency, safety, and longevity. This helps lessen the chances of the unit breaking when you need it most.
  • What are the signs my system needs repair?

Unusual noises, uneven temperatures, rising energy bills, frequent cycling, or weak airflow are common indicators that your system may need professional attention.
  • Do you offer emergency HVAC services?

Yes, we provide 24/7 emergency support for urgent heating and cooling issues to keep your home safe and comfortable.
  • How can I improve my system’s efficiency?

Regular maintenance, replacing filters every 1–3 months, sealing ductwork, and upgrading to programmable thermostats can significantly improve efficiency.
  • What’s the average lifespan of an HVAC system?

Most systems last 10–15 years with proper care. Regular maintenance can extend lifespan, while neglect may shorten it.

  • How do I know what system is right for my home?

  • What’s included in your maintenance plans?

Our maintenance plans include a 21-point inspection to make sure the system is working at factory specs. For a furnace, we will wipe down and vacuum out the unit. For an air conditioner, we will wash off the outside unit. If the unit filter is a 1-inch size and not an odd size, we will replace that during a maintenance visit as well. Another benefit of our maintenance plans is priority scheduling for service calls. Theses calls are at no extra charge if you are on our membership plan.
